Appraising Your Life

Ever feel like you’re running on autopilot … busy, but not sure if you’re actually heading where you want to go? Before you can make meaningful changes or set goals that stick, you need to understand where you currently stand. That’s where the Wheel of Life comes in.

What Is the Wheel of Life?

The Wheel of Life is a simple yet powerful coaching tool that helps you assess your overall life balance. Imagine a wheel divided into 8 sections, each representing a key area of your life. The most common areas include:

Career & Business

Finances

Health & Fitness

Friends & Family

Romance / Significant Other

Personal Growth

Fun & Recreation

Physical Environment (home, surroundings)

How to Use It

1. Download Your Template – We’ve provided a ready-to-use Wheel of Life template for you. Print it or open it digitally.

2. Score Each Area – For each slice, rate your satisfaction from 1 (very dissatisfied) to 10 (fully satisfied).

3. Connect the Dots – Draw a line across each slice at the number you’ve chosen. When you’re done, connect the lines to see the shape of your wheel.

If your wheel looks round and even, great – you’re in balance. But most of us will end up with a bumpy, uneven wheel, which highlights the areas of life that need attention.

Why This Matters

You can’t set meaningful goals if you’re not clear on where you’re starting from. The Wheel of Life gives you:

Clarity – a snapshot of your life today

Focus – highlights where improvement would have the biggest impact

Motivation – shows you what a more balanced life could look like

Next Steps

1. Celebrate Wins - Notice which areas scored high. What habits or choices are helping you there?

2. Choose One Focus Area – Don’t try to fix everything at once. Pick the area that feels most urgent or exciting.

3. Set a Small Goal – Aim for one step that can lift your score in that area just a little.

Balancing your life isn’t about achieving perfection. It’s about becoming more intentional, so your actions match your values. The Wheel of Life is a powerful starting point – so grab the template, fill it in, and start appraising where you are today.
